- I was surprised with this on the
morning radio. SAFM here in Adelaide
made mention to Lucy Lawless this
morning. In one of Milly's rumour files.
She was bagging Kevin Federline about
something.. he managed to get a gig in a
super bowl commercial.. and then she
made mention that Lucy Lawless former
Xena Warrior Princess had kicked off a
singing career and draw more audience
numbers on her first ever concent than
Kevin Federline could ever get for a
single show of his....<g>

 Remember
when Xena TV star Lucy Lawless
proved she was more than a warrior princess and played Rizzo
in Grease! on Broadway in the fall on 1997? Those
days may be over, but Lawless is back singing her heart out
these days thanks to her success on TV’s Celebrity Duets
last fall, in which she placed 2nd out of the eight celebs
who competed (Broadway baby Alfonso Ribeiro took top prize).
In fact, the gorgeous mom (who can now be seen on TV’s
Battlestar Galactica) made her club debut with a rock
band over the weekend at The Roxy on Sunset Boulevard.
Broadway.com’s Bruce Glikas was in town for the Golden
Globes and offers the following backstage photo peek.

Oooeee! My email has exploded the
last few days and today with pictures, pictures and more
pictures! Anyone for pictures? :-)
One thing I've noticed in going through all these pics is
that no pic is alike. Yes the photographers were all at the
same venue but somehow they managed to get a different look
- maybe a split second difference. Wonderful to wade through
and have a look. Many thanks to all those that sent in
their photos - it's pretty cool of everyone to share them.

Warrior Lucy Rocks! - The Daily Record 16 January 2007
XENA: Warrior Princess actress Lucy Lawless battled a
mystery virus to make her singing debut at a rock gig.
Lucy, who is better known for her sword fights, decided
to take a stab at singing after appearing on the US show
Celebrity Duets. She had to load up on medication before
the sell-out show at LA's Roxy venue but it didn't stop
her bringing the house down. With her new blonde look,
she made a big impression singing some of her own songs,
as well as those of Etta James and Nina Simone.

magical weekend of 13-14 January 2007 is over and Lucy's
concerts were a smash hit! Congratulations to Lucy and
everyone associated with putting on the fantastic shows.
Renee joined Lucy once again on stage for a bit of dancing.

Renee said it was a smaller role but one that meant a
lot for her. She'll play a psychiatrist who deals with
schizophrenic patients, the character's called Dr Ryan.

scifi western, then a comedy with her Diamonds and Guns
gang. Making and trying to sell Diamonds and Guns
- One piece of not so nice news is about One Weekend A
Month. Renee was really trying to help the producer into
turning it into a full length film/financing for it etc
but Renee wasn't selected to be in that role! Talk about
short sighted.
- Renee said that she was up for a role in Katherine's
Army Wives show for Lifetime, Katherine was pushing her
but it is shot in South Carolina and she didnt want to
go there for a year. She wants her family together.

Lucy Message - Countdown to the Roxy
For those driving to the Roxy...
- Amy has forwarded me some info for those who don't know the area all
that well and who are not taking the Creation bus to the venue: The Roxy is
in West Hollywood and is 45 minutes to 1 hour from Burbank with traffic. And
as a matter landmark it is West of the Comedy Store.
You can get directions from the hotel to the Roxy at Google Maps
Leave plenty of time to get there before the 8 pm concert start.

1/8/07 -- Good evening, Young Ones. Today I had to
postpone BV's (backing vocals) meeting with Miss
Sharlotte. Instead I went to my brilliant ENT doctor to
get a handle on this virus that's set up shop in my
head. He hosed out my sinuses with a little vacuum
cleaner. Gruesome! Then he dug for gold in my ears. I
stopped yelling at people to "SPEAK UP!!!" after that.
And he shot me full of B12 and anti-histamine. I am
going straight to bed after writing this blog.

Lucy Concert Update
The other big news from Sharon (other
than the DVD - if that welcome news wasn't enough to make
every Lucy fan deliriously happy, especially those that
won't be going to the convention or to see Lucy perform at
the Roxy) is that Lucy hopes to be releasing her CD single
"Come2Me" at the same time as the concert. The CD will
contain Come2Me and "Let It Whip" (Let It Whip was the song
Lucy performed while she and Renee jumped out of the cake at
the 2005 Xena con - that was quite memorable. I think
everyone there forgot about the song and just watched in
absolute bliss as our dynamic duo gave their fans a
present).

Today is exactly one week to the first of two Lucy Lawless
Live concerts at the famous Roxy nightclub in Hollywood!
Here is Lucy's first entry of her Countdown To The Roxy
blog! Let the fun begin!
I am freaking out because I can't start working with the
musicians till next week. I will have literally 2 days
rehearsal; to test the keys, edit the shape and endings of
songs. The tone of each is very synergistic, which means
wanting to have all the elements jamming together.

THE CONCERT IS PERMITTED NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY IS PERMITTED
These concerts
are being filmed for DVD release and your
presence acknowledges your permission to be filmed and used
in the DVD content.
Creation also has a media release about
the concert which reads in part:

Lawless will sing songs by artists
who have powerfully influenced her: Etta James, Nina
Simone, Crissy Hynde, and Melissa Etheridge
plus performing some of her own work. Lawless further
says, "This performance is the soundtrack of my life”.
Rickey Minor, the musical director of American Idol and
Celebrity Duets, has helped the New Zealand born star
put together a remarkable band to perform behind

Lucy Radio Interview - Hollywood Confidential
Lucy was on Leeza Gibbons' radio show Hollywood Confidential
this weekend (31 December 2006) about her upcoming concerts.
There's a very interesting comment about the possibility of
a Xena movie - Lucy didn't want to reveal too much but she
did say there's a 50/50 chance of a movie! Lucy's song Come

Lucy Interview - NZ Radio 25 November 2006
- Lucy was interviewed on NZ Radio station Viva
Radio. The interview was about Lucy's involvement
with Starship, the World T-Shirts to the Circle The
Earth trip that her cousin is doing. An interesting
comment at the end was Lucy saying that concert in
LA has been sold out and they may be another concert
for those that missed out. Jo emailed Sharon and
asked her about this. If/when the decision is made
to add another show, Sharon/Creation will let
everyone know.

LAWLESS IN CONCERT
November 15, 2006 update:
You've heard the rumors and now we can confirm
conclusively that the amazing Ms. L will be performing
in concert (a full 90 minute show) during the convention
weekend on Saturday Evening! Performance venue
and ticketing information will be announced soon
but we wanted all Lucy's worldwide fans to be able to
make plans to be on hand for this incredible night! Note
that we've opened up Saturday night by moving our
dessert party to Friday late night so our attendees can
see Lucy live in performance. The venue is located about
20 minutes away from the convention.
